Sunny, mid 40s, slight breeze. Mommy, Daddy, Aunt T, daughter and two Labrador Retrievers. Perfect day for a walk in the park.
So, on Super Bowl Sunday morning, off we went for a lovely walk near our house. After an inch and a half of rain in the past couple of days, the soccer fields and grassy areas were still puddled in areas, but the walking trails were firm, albeit wet.
There is a pond along the way. Our older dog happily went swimming. Brrrrrrr! But she loved it. (Upon our return home, both dogs were given showers by my wife and are clean, pretty and proud now. They are also napping lazily away.)
Our daughter, ever fashion conscious and color coordinated – as long as there is lots of pink and purple, walked and ran the whole way. She long ago learned that her own two feet can do quite well. Mommy or Daddy only rarely schlep her around.
Brief side note: Our daughter gets plenty of playtime and exercise. Her diet contains virtually no processed foods and plenty of fruits and veggies. How many five year olds proudly list lima beans, broccoli and asparagus as her three favorite vegetables? Little exercise and poor diets are major contributors to our increasing obesity problems. The preventative solutions are pretty straightforward.
Anyway, the walk was a delight. Fresh air, sunshine, hanging with the family, playing with the dogs. Who could ask for more? The Super Bowl tonight will be just like a cherry on top of an already great day!
