On a cool – maybe cold – and damp gray winter’s days, our daughter hosted her second cookie baking party for a couple of friends and some aunties. Given it’s February, the theme was Valentine’s Day. The result was a sweet little party and a whole lot of sweet, sweet cookies.
The girls had a blast making tray after tray of cookies – some dipped in chocolate, some decorated with sprinkles of many colors, and some both. Clearly sweet and sugary won the day! Each girl left with a large box of fresh cookies, hand decorated by the gang.
Having had previous cookie experience made this event more calm, less wild. They seemed to enjoy their craftsmanship, not to mention the opportunity to quality control their output via frequent taste tests.
They knew what they were doing and what they wanted. We also avoided any post-sugar meltdowns. It’s such a routine thing almost, but it’s once again wonderful to see the girls growing up before our eyes. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
