This weekend, 7 Green Goddesses gathered at our home for their annual get together.
A bit of history is in order: Before we met, while living in Florida, my wife socialized, through a monthly potluck dinner, with a group of colleagues. The sisterhood is strong: Despite the passing of more than five years since the last dinner in Florida, the Green Goddesses gather annually at our house. Some new members have joined this loosely defined sorority to replace some of those who have moved on with their lives.
The Goddess catch up on each other’s lives, eat extravagantly and elegantly, and go on a few outings together. My wife spends weeks planning the menus, even publishing them ahead of time. Her culinary skills are much appreciated by all. As I write this on Sunday evening, several Goddesses have departed for their homes around the country. Those remaining are out shopping together right now. The Goddesses will tell you they participate for the social aspects of their sisterhood.
While I certainly enjoy participating (as the only male in attendance this year), I write this post simply to say thank you to the Goddesses – to my daughter, 1 Mother and 6 Aunts – for the amazing role models and positive influences you provide my daughter. You are amazing, ladies. Thank you, C, L, L, L, M, S and T.
