Shared Experiences

Meetings Lead to Hallway Conversations

Recently I attended a meeting out of town.  Meetings usually have a business purpose, as did this one, but the better ones have a social function as well.  I relish the opportunities to catch up with old acquaintances.  In one such renewal, we discovered a common bond neither of us knew existed:  Both of us are first time fathers in our fifties.  Our daughters both recently began Kindergarten.  What a wonderful wow moment!

The idea for a fifties fatherhood blog was with me previously, but the above conversation got me thinking more about it.  When my wife started her own cooking blog last week, it was time for me as well.  A shared fatherhood experience and now shared blogs both make me feel more connected with the world, both here at home and across the country.
